Before I begin on this post I would like to introduce myself, I am Stewart Fullerton and I developed this website alongside Craig McGee in 2009, before launching it in early 2010. We enjoyed a heavy amount of traffic in our early years, especially our weekly newsletters posted by Craig which was once featured in the Evening Times.
Craig moved on from Glasgowmusic to concentrate on his new business, Panoptic Events, leaving myself and the rest of the team to keep the site rich with content and we have been doing that for the last 5 years, the newsletter sadly had to go, but we continued to update the site regardless and we had no intention of packing it in and shutting the website down.
Despite posting new material sent by the PRs who we work for and continue to publish live music reviews and photo galleries, the website has not been touched cosmetically since it was launched a decade ago and that it has not passed the test of time. The site desperately needs a redesign to keep it up to speed with modern web standards and we have lost traffic as a result of this.
It has always been my desire to give the site a makeover but I havent had the time to sit down and do it, I had a full time job, I had photography assignments (I photograph gigs for the website) and I am usually out socialising at weekends.
However as I lost my job recently due to the corona-virus outbreak, the fact that no gigs are happening due to the pandemic and that we are forced to self-isolate - even the non-infected, I now have the time to work on the new site and I am delighted to announce that it is nearing completion.
We will be introducing new features to the new site, it will now be now more polished, intuitive, responsive and optimised for mobile devices, we have also teamed up with Songkick to give you every live event happening in Glasgow and allowing the user to view more information as well as purchase tickets.
Please note that when the new website is ready we will experience some downtime, but we are looking forward to finally deliver the new look Glasgowmusic to our users and the people who we work for.
Additionally, we are on the look out for writers to join our team, we get a ton of press releases sent every day by our PRs and we plan to cover as many live gigs as possible, if you are interested or want to find out more, send an email to email@example.com.
