Texas to play live gig at St Lukes this Thursday.

Scottish favourites, Texas, release a lovely, summery slice of soul with new single

You Can Call Me, taken from their critically-acclaimed new album, Hi. The album charted at number 3 on release at the end of May, the band’s highest charting studio album since The Hush in 1999.

The band are also the first act to be announced to play BBC Radio 2 Live. The band will perform at St Luke’s in Glasgow on Thursday 5th August in front of a small audience of fans.

Sharleen Spiteri said: Im always excited to play in Glasgow, our home town! And Im thrilled to be performing for the first time at St. Lukes for Radio 2 Live. Tickets will be allocated via a ballot following registration at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2.

Texas 10th album, Hi is a stunning result of looking back with eyes fixed firmly on the future. Collaborations include Dark Fire, written with Richard Hawley, a lovely tune that recalls the spirit of a slow dance at a high school prom while Look What You’ve Done, is an intoxicating, classic duet where Sharleen trades verses with Clare Grogan of Altered Images.

Other highlights include the swaggering collaboration with the Wu-Tang Clan on the title track, the soul-soaked Mr Haze and the nostalgic, Just Wanna Be Liked.
