The Subways announce fifth studio album - King Tuts show on 29th January

THE SUBWAYS forthcoming fifth studio album, Uncertain Joys, is set for release on 13th January 2023. The album is available to preorder now from: http://linktr.ee/thesubways

Uncertain Joys was recorded and produced by front man and producer in his own right Billy Lunn, mixed by the Grammy Award-winning Adrian Bushby (Muse, Foo Fighters, Everything Everything), and mastered by Katie Tavini (Mykki Blanco, Arlo Parks, Nadine Shah).

‘Black Wax’ is the latest single to be taken from the record, following on from the previously-released trio of ‘Love Waiting on You’, ‘You Kill My Cool’, and ‘Fight’, which garnered press support from The Independent, NME, FLOOD Magazine, CLASH, Guitar Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan and more, with international radio support from Steve Lamacq at BBC 6music, John Kennedy at Radio X, Jasper Leijdens at KINK, and KEXP, amongst others.

Following a busy summer of festival appearances across the UK and Europe, the band’s previously announced UK album tour dates have been rescheduled to January/February 2023 and are on sale now (see below for full listings).

Supporting them at their tour will be CATBEAR.

Following the release of their debut album in 2021, which now has over 650k streams worldwide, London-based duo Zoe Konez (she/her) and Sarah Smith (she/her) - aka CATBEAR - are blasting into the new year with a brand new single.

Released during their upcoming UK support tour for indie legends The Subways, ‘I Choose Love’ is an ethereal dreampop sapphic anthem celebrating queer love and fighting to live as your true self - bringing a feel good New Year message for all. The track mixes nostalgic and warm analogue synths with dreamy guitars, assured female vocals and pulsating bassline.

Of their most personal and honest lyrics yet, Zoe says:
“Its easy to feel overwhelmed and lost in the challenges of being an individual in today’s world - even just walking out of your door can feel like you need to put your armour on to prepare for judgement, whether at work, on the bus or at the supermarket. ‘I Choose Love’ is your armour for a message of defiance, of confidence to be yourself, and a reminder to treat everyone as equals.â€Â
