www.glasgowmusic.co.uk was founded by Craig Michael McGee in 2004 as a music forum to discuss what was happening in Glasgow’s live and recorded music circuit. Traffic was drawn to it via a weekly newsletter that went out to people who have signed up to it. The newsletter was a weekly feature in the 'Evening Times'
2010 saw the site going through a major redesign which will allow more user functionality as well as news, features and reviews, the review team has grown and are covering lots of gigs not just in Glasgow, but in the whole of Scotland. More and more features are getting posted on events coming up with many writers now using own initiative and finding themes to write about.
Craig developed the new Glasgowmusic website alongside Stewart Fullerton making it a login system to get it up to speed with current websites in order to offer a platform for bands and promoters alike to promote themselves. We started a reviews section and quickly got a team of writers to publish their work on the site, Stewart Fullerton meanwhile is in charge of content editing, website maintenance and also photographs for the website as well as writing the odd review. Since the websites incarnation we have been posting news, reviews, photo galleries and features about Glasgows thriving music scene.
In 2020, Glasgowmusic went through a second major redesign to get the ageing site up to par with modern web standards, as well as being optimised for viewing on mobile devices such as iOS and Android platforms.
The site is open to new writers joining the team, we get a formidable amount of press releases sent by the PRs that we work with and we aim to cover as many gigs as possible, if interested in hearing more please get in touch through the contact section of our website.
