Recently there have been moves to shut down BA APPLIED MUSIC DEGREE at Strathclyde University.

Acoording to one student who recently qualified from it “This is an excellent course and one of a kind in Scotland.“ If you studied the course or have worked with someone in a professional capacity who graduated with this degree, or simply feel strongly about the closure of yet another inspiring arts environment in Scotland, then Id like to ask you to take a minute to sign the petition in protest.

ARE YOU A YOUNG ASPIRING ACTOR WHO CAN PLAY MUSIC? There is currently a search on for a young musician between the ages of fifteen and twenty to star as the lead in an exciting new Scottish feature film which will shoot in America this spring. The screenplay is called ‘Dirt Road to Lafayette’ and is written by Booker prize winner James Kelman and will be directed by multi award winning director Kenny Glenaan.
The film charts sixteen-year-old Murdo, realizing his own potential as an artist and fighting every obstacle to achieve his goal. It is a portrait of the artist as a young man. Part road movie, musical, and part coming of age drama.
The story emerges against a soundtrack including traditional Scots/Irish, Acadian, Cajun, Bluegrass, Blues, Soul, Creole and Zydeco music. The music is at the core of the film.
They are looking for a great young musician and also someone with a desire to act (previous acting experience is not a requirement.)
If you know of any young men that are interested in being considered, please ask them to email me on [email protected] or call Orla at her office 0131-553 0559.
