In the News

As many of you will have heard BBC is 6MUSIC is to close. Last week I listened to Glasgow band Woodenbox with a Fistful of Fivers doing a great session on the station. It gave opportunities to unsigned / unheard bands through the years.
If you disagree with this insane decision, please take a minute and protest  http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/homepage/

THE ARCHES reopened for business yesterday after a 2 month closure. All of the major club nights - Death Disco, Colours, Inside Out and Pressure – and a fresh new dancefloor, ready to get dirty all over again. from the Arches themselves regarding the reopening of their club nights “There was much debate about who to invite to make sure everyone involved in the night went away feeling elated and, after checking them out on their Soulwaxmas tour, it was pretty much unanimous that it should be someone like 2manydjs. The progression of their a/v set over the past two years is pretty stunning, so heres hoping that there will be more surprise record sleeves and unlikely mash-ups next weekend.” www.thearches.co.uk/clubs

The Excellent and wonderfully talented BEARDYMAN returns to play Glasgow’s Arches on Thursday 29th April tickets available from the usual outlets. Warning: in Beardyman’s shows NO pre-recorded material is used. Check out his amazing videos.

Antimatter in association with Elba Studios present MUSICBOX On Thursday 4th March, independent label and artist collective Antimatter debuts Musicbox, an evening of aural and visual delight....
“The concept of Musicbox is simple. Musically, each line up features four of the best new up and coming artists around. We operate an open mixed genre policy. Acoustic artists play side by side with electronic, folk musicians next to experimental. Each artist has been specifically chosen
to compliment the rest. The focus is on great music. Visually, the focus isnt like any other gig....literally. The line upon the night also features four up and coming photographers. Each
photographer is pre-assigned to a band. We give them a month to soak up the sound of their band and shoot a sequence of photographs as their interpretation of that bands music. Each sequence is then projected live on the night as a visual accompaniment to that bands performance.
So, if you want to hear the best new live music in town, and prefer visuals with real substance, get yourself down to Musicbox at TheUniversal on March 4th.”
Performing Live are The Recovery Club, Engine7, Paul McLinden, Lamplighter
Photographers are Kat McDonald, Gavin Inglis, Gingiber, Retrogoth
