GIGS

I am pleased to announce that Raymond Hackland is coming back to play Glasgow. I spoke about him last week as he went to number 1 in Holland!

Dutch number 1 announces Glasgow show

www.glasgowmusic.co.uk presents
Scottish born Raymond Hackland who was recently crowned number 1 in Holland will appear live in Glasgow on Monday September 6th. He will be joined by Amy Belle and Alan Frew
"Just One Night with its simple laid back production is a perfect showcase for Hacklands wry creative songwriting. And despite the lack of thrills and spills, Hackland proves that whilst he has one foot firmly in the country tradition, this able tunesmith can produce real hits." - Jackie Fisher (former manager Boyzone, Natalie Imbruglia, Amy Belle, EMI Records)
"The music the words and the talent are all equally amazing. Raymond is a pure joy to listen to." - Carol Cunningham, Music News Scotland
"Just One Night is cool. A great little pop song!" - Jim Gellatly, Clyde 1
Raymonds debut single, Just One Night, topped the ReverbNation Country/Blues for Holland, No.3 for the ReverbNation Whos Hot Country Chart (worldwide), has hit national headlines in Scotland and has been played on Jim Gellatlys Amazing Radio Show as well other national radio stations across including one in the U.S.
"Brilliant! Absolutely superb!!" - Matt Bendoris, The Sun

The Ray Summers release ‘Heshka Rashka’ plus Doves support

The Ray Summers are a Scottish six-piece who formed in 2008 and bonded over a shared love of harmony, melody and, most importantly, making people dance!
The boys have since gained a reputation as a raucous live act who’ve added a much needed splash of colour to the Scottish music scene. They have subsequently caused waves at festivals such as Rockness, T in the Park and The Camden Crawl leading to a number of support slots with established acts including The Bluetones, The Charlatans and Idlewild.
The boys’ forthcoming single, Heshka Rashka, from their debut album will be enough to make you want to dance your socks off.
The Ray Summers will be supporting DOVES at the HMV Picture House this Sunday as part of the Edge Festival
"Over the past 12 months they’ve amassed a growing fanbase thanks to thrill-packed tracks like Crazy World or The Shepherd and a brilliant live show that’s guaranteed to leave you wearing a grin.” – News of The World, 9 for 2009
Heshka Rashka shows how The Ray Summers effortlessly meld their boisterous live sensibilities with the ability to convey their sound on record without compromise, and is sure to be the soundtrack to your festival season.

Calling all artists, bands, managers, agents and record labels interested in showcasing at SXSW or MIDEM
Creative Scotland, in partnership with SxSW, MIDEM and UKTI and the Cultural Enterprise Office are hosting an information session for artists, bands, managers, agents, record labels interested in showcasing at SXSW or MIDEM.
The session, which takes place on 31 August 2010 in Glasgow, will cover WHY you’d want to showcase, WHEN the best time to do this is and HOW you go about planning and executing a successful showcasing campaign. We’ll cover how much it’ll cost, funding available, PR, visas, on the ground support and everything you’ll need to know about these events before deciding whether or when to apply.
Scottish artists and managers who have showcased in the past will talk about their experiences and there will be an opportunity to meet representatives from both events. Details of speakers will be announced shortly. The event is presented by Creative Scotland with SXSW, MIDEM and UKTI in partnership with Cultural Enterprise Office.
How to book: This event is free of charge but booking is essential. To reserve a place, please email [email protected] or call 0844 544 999

Stef and Fiona from ROCKETFOX have been whittled down to 1 of 24 acts to play at UNESCOs Glasgow Airport Airplay Sessions which is like a Battle of the Bands type competition taking place at Glasgow Airport. It consists of 4 heats with 6 acts in each heat. They are in the final heat on Thursday 5th August.
They have half an hour to set up, perform 3 songs and then pack up. One of the songs will be video recorded and posted up on www.glasgowcityofmusic.com for the public to go and listen to and vote for their favourite act. They have written a new song called Second Chance which is a positive and upbeat song about beating cancer, a subject close to both of our hearts right now. So we have decided that this will be our recorded track on the day. If we win, we will receive £1000 which we will put towards recording and releasing the song.
They have just set up a donation page for the Maggie Centre so that we can help raise money for the charity before our gig on the 5th.

THIS THURSDAY AT MONO - Futuristic Retro Champions single launch
Following on from the release of two EPs earlier in the year, Futuristic Retro Champions release their debut single; the double a-side that is May the Forth and Settle Down.
The artwork has been designed by the Turner Prize winning artist Martin Creed, who will play a rare set with his band to support FRCs at the launch.
