Electric Frog is Scotland’s premier urban & electronic micro-festival situated within the very heart of Glasgows cutting edge arts and culture scene at the SWG3 creative studios. 2011 will be the third outing for Electric Frog and its programme kicks off festival season with a superlative line-up over the Easter Weekend of the 23/24 April.
The headline acts this year are amongst the most iconic in their musical field (and we don’t use the term ‘iconic’ lightly here). We have exclusive appearances from FRANCOIS KEVORKIAN (his ONLY UK show, playing his Deep Space set here for the first time) and DANNY KRIVIT (playing his only Scottish show this year), a rare appearance by Grime pioneers KODE 9, TODD EDWARDS, MMM (live), IVAN SMAGGHE, DJ YODA, GREEN VELVET, EROL ALKAN, DAVE CLARKE, UNABOMBERS and Sundays headliner, seminal turntablist J ROCC (a further Scottish exclusive).
In addition to these guests will be support from the significant talent found in Glasgow’s native clubbing community. SLAM - Scotland’s finest producers of techno and house for over 20 years both as artists and with their legendary Soma imprint, the OPTIMO deejay team Twitch and Wilkes international pioneers of a party soundtrack without genre boundaries, the classic disco enthusiasts MELTING POT (who recently celebrated their 10th anniversary), ELECTRIC ELIMINATORS (residents at the infamous Scottish home of bass, dub, grime and garage that is Fortified Sessions), dark and hypnotic sound of true techno from ANIMAL FARM as well as one of the freshest new club talents to emerge in the last year, the italo-influenced and 80’s style inspired THUNDER DISCO CLUB.
The ethos of the Electric Frog is to mount a quality music festival event with-in easy access to all in the heart of Glasgow city, to curate a unique and diverse bill of djs and live artists who represent the very best in terms of both heritage and legacy from the past decades of dance music. The bill for the 2011 weekend is an exceptional rundown of iconic names from the past, emerging talents of the present day, and some of the most exciting talent from Glasgow’s own vibrant and respected club scene.
The fantastic success of the 2010 Electric Frog Street Carnival is a tough act to follow, the exclusive performances of Liquid Liquid, Planetary Assault Systems, Felix Da Housecat and Trus’me saw a good couple of thousand music fans descend on the site. However with the headliners stacked up for this year, the festival now expanded to cover two days, presented with the finest sound-tech, lighting and production, hospitality from four bars and quality food vendors, the organisers are fully confident that the 2011 Festival is destined to go that one step further in guaranteeing something very special indeed for the music and clubbing community.
“We’re delighted to be involved in The Electric Frog which is shaping up to be one of the best dance music events taking place in Glasgow this year with it’s exciting, cutting edge, musically varied and internationally renowned line-up coming together over the Easter Weekend in a great location and incorporating the best elements of both street and warehouse parties.”
Dave Clark. Head of Slam Events, Co-Promoter of the Electric Frog.
Electric Frog 2011 is a collaboration between Liquid Events, SWG3, Slam Events/Pressure and Electric Elephant.
