Last weeks action and information packed newsletter received a lot of great feedback as many people took up the opportunities that were there. Let me know how you got on?
Murray’s ‘Echo & the Bunnymen’ review went almost viral due to the nature of the gig. I had more hits in 24 hours on that review alone that the website average per month! Such a great review too that summed it up perfectly for people who were there. Read it here if you haven’t already. http://bit.ly/p8Daga
Who has been to the AC/DC exhibition? It’s really good and a great thing for Glasgow. Head to Kelvingrove Museum and check it out.
What a weekend for me with DJ gigs just passed. I had so much fun in Stairway on Saturday night as The Imagineers had their after party and brought with them a huge crowd of eager clubbers. Friday night in the Brass Monkey turned into a bit of a rave, it was great fun. Sunday and Tuesday I played gigs for Red Bull. Both were well attended and like the energy drink itself very high octane!
This week I return to the Garage on Friday night after first warming you up in the Brass Monkey. On Saturday night its again back to Stairway. I would love if you could join me for all

‘Knowing Right from Right – negotiating the copyright maze’ Thursday 13th of October
Songwriters, musicians, artists – they all have one thing in common, in that they create and own intellectual property, and their copyrights are very much the currency they deal in. The whole issue can be a minefield for both creative people and for the record labels, websites, production companies, studios, etc – that record, manufacture and market these works.
MCPS Scotland, together with the SMIA, is hosting a seminar at 6pm on Thursday 13th Oct at The Scottish Music Centre, Candleriggs, Glasgow aimed at untangling the copyright maze.
Speakers will be Stuart Fleming, Senior Member Relations Manager (Scotland & Northern Ireland) for PRS for Music, Keith Harris, Director of Performer Affairs for PPL and Duncan McCrone, Senior Manager MCPS Scotland. They will talk about their individual organizations, the rights they represent and the various income streams artists, musicians, writers and composers should expect from their intellectual property rights. This will be followed up by a Q&A and there will be opportunity to chat over a coffee afterwards.
To register your free place please email Caroline Cooper at [email protected]
Scotland’s leading music social club, BORN TO BE WIDE is to host a music video seminar at Edinburgh’s Electric Circus on Thursday 6 October focusing on how to make a clip, how to generate money with it and how to most effectively use it for promotion.
Panellists include KFM Records owner, Scott Macdonald, whose no-budget videos for his signings have frequently been playlisted on MTV. He will be joined by David Weaver from Detour, which specialises in music films with a difference, shooting bands in unusual locations.
Aman Khullar, head of TV licensing at the collection society Video Performance Limited, will explain how to register promos, protect the copyright and collect money from plays.
The panel will also aim to examine the impact of changes in the music video industry and how they affect directors, artists and labels. www.borntobewide.co.uk
