Read More It’s the biggest and best music prize of the summer – the chance for a completely unknown or up and coming act to perform on the main stage at RockNess.
The Record has teamed up with event organisers to give one act the chance to share the main stage with headliners including Plan B, Basement Jaxx, Example, Madness and Special Guest Fatboy Slim. Whether you’re a fledgling singer-songwriter or the hottest undiscovered band on planet earth, if you think you can get the main stage rocking, this is definitely the competition for you.
For the chance to play a set at the almighty RockNess in front of a potential audience of thousands, all you have to do is upload a video or audio, which should be less than five minutes in length and feature your song entry, to YouTube. Then complete our application form including the link for our judges to access the track. You’ll be asked to provide your name, email address, where you live and full contact details, as well as the name of the act and the song and a short biography of less than 200 words.
Budding entrants have until Sunday, May 12 to submit their entry.
For more details on how to enter, please visit www.dailyrecord.co.uk/playatrockness where you will find step-by-step instructions.
All entries will then be whittled down to a shortlist of six finalists to be judged by the Record and RockNess panel made up of some of the music industry’s key movers and shakers. The lucky six will also be showcased on the Record’s website, which attracts more than two million unique users every month. Visitors to the website will be able to view the videos and comment on their favourites – giving each act the chance to gain new followers irrespective of whether they go on to succeed in winning that prestigious main stage slot.
Speaking about the competition, festival director Jim King said: “RockNess is really pleased to be partnering the Daily Record for this exciting new talent search.
“This is an incredible opportunity for aspiring bands and musicians to grab hold of and gain some exceptional exposure. We look forward to hearing the entrants. Good luck to all.”
Record Music editor, John Dingwall said: “Last year’s competition winners So Many Animal Calls had a fantastic time playing the main stage and the response to the competition was immense with entries from around the world. This is a chance to perform on the main stage at what promises to be the best RockNess festival to date.”
So get your uploads together. It could be you who’s taking RockNess by storm this summer.
