START TRAVEL: GLASGOW LIVE - iPad App

A new kind of travel guide designed for the iPad
Glasgow’s throbbing heart of music, gigs, bands, sweaty mosh pits, pounding beats, great clubs and fabulous buskers is celebrated in a stunning new app magazine guide from creative outfit, Start Digital.

The company, based in the city’s Gorbals, celebrates Glasgow’s musical heritage in a stunning interactive publication designed for the iPad. The first in a series of travel apps under the brand Start Travel.

Glasgow Live brings together some distinctly Glasgow voices – and eyes:
Malcolm Jack, music critic for the Guardian and Big Issue, takes us on a tour of Glasgow’s better and lesser known music venues – from record stores to arenas. And recalls the bands that made them so special.

Moff, Start Digital’s inhouse photographer for the project, provides stunning live mages which ooze with atmosphere.
And radio DJ Jim Gellatly provides a walking tour round many of the city’s greatest musical venues.

The app also features embedded video and an interview with up and coming indie outfit Honeyblood.

Start Travel director Thomas Quinn explained: “We wanted to bring together a few of the elements which makes Glasgow such a great city for contemporary music. An interactive iPad publication was ideal because we could include video as well as great photography.

“Glasgow hasn’t won the right to host the MTV Europe Awards or its status as a Unesco international City of Music by coincidence. This is a special place for seeing and playing new music.”
