Soundskape. A new innovative way of gigging in Glasgow

In a saturated market, its often difficult to fill your gigs and as we all know there is little more depressing than playing to 6 people and their dog!! Thankfully a new initiative is under way in Glasgow town that aims to get people to more gigs and gives bands that need a break an opportunity to showcase their wares.

Soundskape launches April 1st and is the first project of its kind in Glasgow. It allows us hard up music lovers a chance to go to gigs but without the expense usually associated with such undertakings. The idea is fairly simplistic, pay a set amount each month and go to as many gigs as you like. It means you only flutter away you SASS on booze and kebabs! With many venues on board including sleazys, stereo and the garage then youve got plenty of places to visit. And with membership at £10 for the month of April, then its a fair chance to see bands you wouldnt normally.

The brainchild of university student and music aficionado Richard Freed, it is understandably at this infancy stage, a work in progress. But given the buzz about it in the media and social forums and with nightclubs hopefully coming on board in the near future, the project should go from strength to strength. You might just discover the next big thing whilst having a laugh with your pals on the cheap.

Bands and soloists are welcome to contact Soundskape to get involved too and of course here at glasgowmusic.co.uk wed be happy to put you in touch. You can email me at [email protected] or check out the website www.soundskape.co.uk.

Happy gigging times guys!
