Read More Having written 2 weeks ago about the gap in my life with Rockness in an unknown hiatus, like a rising Phoenix from the ashes, Groove festival fills the gap in the most iconic festival location. A one day event compared to the 2 and 3 days sessions we know and love, it is headlined by the aptly named Groove Armada ( coincidence apparently) and ably supported by the awesome 2manydjs. Also in attendance will be Slam, Radio 1 stalwart Btraits and whipping out the nonsense The Filth Djs. New kid club night on the block Fugazy kick things off.
Launched by 4 big hitters in the festival scene in Scotland, including the co founder of the original Rockness and coordinators of Belladrum and The ironworks venue, the one day event is going back to Rockness roots by being a dance only event. It certainly makes sense with TITP dominating and amazing boutique festivals like Eden and Belladrum being more family friendly, cultural affairs. It is good to see an electronic festival only so that us ravers can go nuts, if only for one day.
The new event lands on the 22nd August at the stunning Loch Ness, right where the gone but never forgotten Rockness was held. Tickets are £55 and with camping £75, is strictly over 18s and has a capacity of 5000. Grab a ticket and Ill see you on the dance floor.
In other news, the aforementioned Eden festival have released their theme for the childrens arena. Under The Sea, which will feature workshops making pirate flags, bushcraft, jewellery and much much more. Theres also a toddler dome with treasure hunting and fancy dress. Also newly on the agenda is story telling, yoga and puppet shows. Theres a lot going on in Eden this year and with a phenomenal line up too, tickets are going fast and will likely sell out.
Ill be on Sunny Govan radio in the next couple of weeks, as a guest, playing some music and discussing the scene in Glasgow and beyond so if you want to me to listen to any of your stuff then feel free to send me any demos to [email protected]
Also on the hunt for writers, really need to get more gigs covered and keep abreast of a saturated scene. Plenty of perks as you can imagine, contact me at the above email address or ping me a message on Facebook.
See you next week.
