The Citz Sessions, is a series of specially-curated, exclusive gigs hosted in the magnificent intimate Victorian auditorium of the Citizens Theatre.
To celebrate the launch of this exciting new project which brings together the best in both established and new bands, The Citz Sessions has enlisted guest curators to each host one evening embracing the diverse sonic landscape of the music scene in Scotland.
Each of the bands and artists will be presenting an intimate, stripped-back, acoustic performance to create a unique musical experience in the iconic surroundings of the theatre. Citz Sessions has already announced an exciting line-up including acts such as the legendary Scott Hutchison (Frightened Rabbit), Frances McKee (The Vaselines) and hot new band Teen Canteen.
We’re now thrilled to announce the full line up for Sunday 16 October. Curated by Gaelic songstress Kathleen MacIness we bring you the ultimate line-up in traditional, Gaelic and folk music including the simply outstanding Ross Ainslie, the distinctly accented Duke Special, one of Scotland’s foremost traditional singers Fiona Hunter, acclaimed Scottish songwriter Blue Rose Code who will be joined by the Halton Quartet and the beautiful Irish singer Michelle Burke.
Line-ups for each evening will be updated as more acts are announced.
Dominic Hill, Artistic Director, Citizens Theatre commented:
“I’m delighted to see the inaugural Citz Sessions announced with a fantastic line-up of bands and artists involved. Audiences often comment on the unique atmosphere of our auditorium and I am excited to see it used for this type of performance.
