If you need a reminder of what pure, exhilarating rock music feels like, look no further.

It is officially Autumn and that means the festival season is over, but that did not mean that the party was over, Pierce The Veil were playing a set at Scotlands premier venue and everyone was psyched.

It was an early start at 5:30pm, with 3 support acts on show, with the likes of The Crawlers, Hot Mulligan and Cavetown giving the audience a teaser of what was to follow.

With people throwing plastic cups everywhere, the atmosphere was electric even before the gig started, the house lights dropped and the air inside the Hydro was thick with charged anticipation, the San Diego veterans took the stage not with a slow build, but with an immediate explosion of sound and colour.

The band had the crowd gripped to their possessions as soon as the first note that was played, their ability to maintain their signature spiralling, acrobatic vocal runs while simultaneously bounding across the risers remains one of the greatest feats in modern rock. Frontman Vic Fuentes dominating presence, Tony Perry's shimmering guitar harmonies, Jaime Preciado's booming basslines, and the relentless, complex drumming of Loniel Robinson - provided the perfect blending of a rock concert.

Starting off with "Death of an Executioner", the setlist was expertise in dynamic pacing, seamlessly blending the raw energy of their older work with the polished angst of their later material. The audience was treated to the likes of "So Far So Fake", "Pass The Nirvana", "Circles", "Bulls In The Bronx" as well as many other classics from their catalogue, transforming the venue into a single, massive choir, every word echoing back to the stage with religious fervour. The band knows exactly which moments demand pure adrenaline and which require a deep, shared moment of vulnerability, the energy on show was almost overwhelming.

The evening concluded with the anthemic "King for a Day.", it was not just a song; it was a pure, unrestrained eruption. Every person in the room - band and audience alike - reached a peak state of catharsis, "You guys are fucking amazing" said Vic as the band said their "until next times" to the joyous Glasgow audience.

The Hydro was far from full from the night but the atmosphere certainly was, almost perfection, I think I got hit with a plastic cup 7 times on the night, Pierce The Veil remains one of the most compelling live acts in the alternative rock landscape. They don't just play their songs, they meticulously craft an experience that is both technically immense and wildly.
