There are bands that tour constantly, and then theres Clutch - a group that treats every live show as a reaffirmation of why rock music still matters.
Read MoreGlasgows iconic local girl from Bishopbriggs, Amy McDonald, came on stage fashionably attired and stood, singing and strumming her acoustic guitar (as the crowd cheered her on) to play the opening song, Is This What You Have Been Waiting for? As soon as she finished that first song, it was clear the crowd were in for a fun festive folk night in the Hydro!
As Amy played on, Mr Rock & Roll came on with a bang of confetti - the blend of folk, indie and rock was an aural treat in this delightful song.
Amy then went on to tell the crowd that last time she was in the Hydro she was in watching Peter Kay live, sitting on level 2 - the best view in the Hydro - on account of the fact that level 2 highlights the amazing backdrop.

To get the crowd going, Amy accused the audience of being much quieter than Thursday nights crowd. Unhappy with the prospect of losing this contest, at this point they erupted, screaming out a deafening cheer as she went on to sing Pride!
Next came Dont Tell me that its Over - a mixture of subtly dark and gothic soft rock. Beautifully played.
Amy continued to compare tonights crowd to last night - as she requested a sing-along in unison as she played more of her many hits.
Perhaps one of the most visual performances was Poison Prince which started with a firework going off. The red lighting in the background reflected the heated song with its upbeat, fiery rock melody.

Album number 5 was next, from which Amy played Statues, the more folk leaning was at the forefront for this one.
This was followed by Barrowland Ballroom - a poignant personal reflection of being back in the Barrowlands - the green and red lights illuminated merry dancing as well as the massive Barrowland signature sign. Before the show ended, This is the Life was played which set the crowd off for a raucous dance fest! What a way to end the show before the dynamite encore.
Amy came back on with a delighted roar from the crowd and admitted that, since its a Friday night, she is on the Marks and Spencers sugar spritz. She took a picture of the crowd who were clearly "having the time of their lives!" Next came a solo acoustic track for just Amy and the crowd - a hugely intimate moment in We Survive. A mellow, chilled-out ode to living for the weekend.

The next song in the encore was a Beluga Lagoon cover called The Glen - not very well known outside of Scotland, but given we are on Scottish soil, the crowd went mental for it.
The last song, Lets start a Band, was a phenomenal end to a Scottish home turf show. What pleasure it was to play twice in a row to a jam packed Hydro crowd. Amy and the crowd were buzzing from the start to the end! Amy gratefully thanked the audience so much for spending their Friday night with her. It was awesome for Amy and just as awesome for the crowd!!!
