Read MoreAs soon as a smiling Marti Pellow, hailing from Clydebank near Glasgow, came on stage, the whole Kelvingrove Bandstand stood up in excited anticipation. Clearly he is a beloved local hero to the countless West of Scotland fans and to say they have a soft spot for the Scottish legend would be understating things greatly. Hes slated in for three nights in a row, all of them sold out gigs. And its no surprise. The atmosphere, the lightning effects and the joyful vibes were all rocking from the instant the music commenced.
The crowd stood on their seats dancing to a string of very familiar hits of yesteryear. The glitzy, glittery suit of a glamorous Marti Pellow blew the stage away. His emotive, powerful voice and his consistently passionate delivery never ceased throughout the whole show. The Wet Wet Wet songs in particular got the crowd singing along with joy.
As the lights went down and darkness emerged over Kelvingrove Park, the atmosphere seemed to build further. Martis shining stage presence was illuminating a world class cabaret show!
Instead of the usual (by now very familiar) chant of "no Scotland, no party", tonight we heard "no Marti, no party" as the crowd awaited for him to return to the stage for an encore. And what a stonking encore it was, as he kicked things off again with his own take on the massive 80s David Bowie hit, Lets Dance. He had sneaked off for a quick dress change, returning adorned in a black, silky kilt, clearly worn for the benefit of all the loyal Glasgow fans! An upbeat, stunning evening and what better way to spend your dry, sunny Thursday than with the one and only local legend, Marti Pellow. Outstanding.
