Read MoreWhat a night in Glasgow. I had a mate over visiting from Slovenia, so I decided to show him how we do live music properly here and surprised him with a gig at the iconic Art School.
Walking into the venue, it instantly felt like a proper community reunion when we bumped into GlasgowMusic favourites **We Are The Physics**. There is nothing quite like seeing one brilliant Glasgow band turning out to watch and support their peers—it set the tone straight away for what was going to be a proper belter of an evening.
The headline act of the night was **Fuck-Off Machete** (F.O. Machete). Having formed over 20 years ago back in the early 2000s, they are back on the scene, and let me tell you, they havent lost an ounce of that raw energy. Watching them tear through their set felt like taking a glorious trip straight down memory lane into Glasgows golden era of spiky, DIY art-rock.
Musically, they were as sharp and uncompromising as ever. That no-nonsense, independent DIY ethic shone through every single bar. Natasha and Paul were absolutely locked in, delivering those jagged guitar hooks, driving basslines, and punchy art-pop vocals that made everyone fall in love with them two decades ago. Tunes like "Big Day Out", "Physical", and "Whats the Signal?" hit with as much bite and attitude now as they ever did.
My friend from Slovenia was absolutely blown away by the atmosphere, the noise, and the sheer passion in the room. It was the perfect showcase of what makes the Glasgow music scene so bloody special—reconnecting with old faces, celebrating proper underground heroes, and remembering why we fell in love with this music in the first place.
A brilliant night out. Welcome back, F.O. Machete!
