Tucker Wetmore - O2 Academy

The next time he’s back in Glasgow, it will be at the OVO Hydro no doubt.

Rising country singer Tucker Wetmore stopped by at Glasgow as part of his Brunette World Tour, and it was a show that the ticket holders were psyched for.

The queue outside O2 Academy snaked down Eglinton Street long before doors, a resemblance to when Alex Warren played at the venue last year, this was a sign that Tucker is translating into real hype on UK soil. Inside the 2,500-capacity venue, the atmosphere felt intimate but charged, the kind where every lyric has a chance to echo back twice as loud.

Opening up for Tucker that evening was fellow country singer Carter Faith, the venue was already full by this point and she drank it all in, embracing the atmosphere, it was her first Scottish trip let alone gig and she mentioned how beautiful the country was, she gave the crowd a teaser of what was to follow.

After a 30 minute interval it was time for Tucker, the moment he stepped onstage, he leaned into that closeness. No overblown theatrics—just a tight band, warm bright lighting, and a singer clearly enjoying the connection between him and the crowd. Opening with upbeat cuts like “Break First” and “Silverado Blue,” he set a confident tone, quickly proving why he’s been tagged as one of the fastest-rising names in country music.

Vocally, he walked the line between polished and raw. Tracks like “Wine Into Whiskey” landed with emotional weight, while the crowd—already well-versed—sang back “Wind Up Missin’ You” with near-anthemic force, the setlist also included surprise covers too such as Gavin DeGraws “I Don’t Want To Be”, Maroon 5’s “This Love” and Train’s “Drops of Jupiter” as the audience sang along with him.

Between songs, Wetmore spoke easily with the audience, joking and sharing quick anecdotes, creating the sense this was less a tour stop and more a personal one. He mentioned that he was in Switzerland recording, the “amazing unique atmosphere” of Glasgow, that he enjoys being in Scotland and branded the Glasgow audience at the greatest on earth, which was obviously met with a roar.

By the time he closed with “Brunette,” the room had tipped fully into triumph—arms up, voices hoarse, and the kind of unified energy that only happens when an artist meets their moment at exactly the right time, everyone left the gig happy.

Tucker Wetmore’s Glasgow debut wasn’t just a solid performance—it was a message of what he is going to be. He is not testing the UK anymore; he’s actively building a following here and the venue was packed on the night. If this show is anything to go by, the next time he’s back in Glasgow, it will be at the OVO Hydro no doubt.
