Purson/Audio/22nd Oct

she seemed to levitate closer and closer to me until she was indeed floating horizontally face to face with me.

If they were to remake the Wicker Man and do it any justice this time you can be certain of two things...the closest Nicolas Cage would get would be watching on Netflix and that Purson would not only compose the sound track but also be collecting a wage for some movie extras roles.

Purson are a “ psychedelic rock” band formed by Rosie Cunningham after disbanding Ipso Facto, unexpectedly this would have no influence on the crowd attending tonight who would be best described as “moshers”. These moshers came in all shapes sizes and indeed ages, serving to intimidate a present friend who would have been more at home at an Ipso Facto gig “hurry up, its so metal in here its embarrassing” however no one present could resist the allure of such a band - a ridiculously talented and ferocious rhythm section giving a tip of the hat to the old guard of rock and Scandinavian metal, while remaining completely entrancing and accessible for whichever buzz you would decide to be on while seeing Purson live. Their macabre keys and charged lead guitar constantly on attack from the offset and fronted by some sort of high priestess who had picked up an elegant english accent on route from Salem and with every honeyed note to leave her lips she seemed to levitate closer and closer to me until she was indeed floating horizontally face to face with me. The crowd had now disappeared in a puff of smoke and all that was between her and I creating a very melodic and evil baby right there and then was her obligation to finish the show...yes I found her attractive (by the way she’s probably better on guitar than you)

Not an obvious comparison but Purson are the only band to do anything memorable for me live since Thee Oh Sees. I really hope Purson get themselves a better booking agent as they truly deserve to be playing in much better venues than this.

5/5 or 10/10 if you prefer. Go and see Purson live if you can they are really good.
