The Cribs - King Tuts, 20th February 2015

The sad demise of indie clubs hasnt affected the dancefloor pulling power that Mens Needs has.

I first saw the Cribs supporting The Others in the now defunct, though legendary, Barfly in Glasgow. It was May 3rd 2004.

The set was chaotic. It was fun. It was everything about bands in 2004. Energetic, lively, punk, singalong, blood, sweat and tears. At the end Ryan jumped off the speakers onto the stack guitars and done himself an injury.
It was a great night that ended up in King Tuts followed by drinks back at the hotel. There werent many fans at the show, not many had heard of them.

Through the following years. The gigs got more chaotic, the songs became more tuneful, the fan base got larger. They even had a legendary guitarist join the band.

Tonight the Cribs were coming back to King Tuts. The excitement of watching a band that I have seen in massive venues and festivals across UK in a small venue again was very exciting.

The minute the band started with Mirror Kissers I was transported back to dance floors covered in Red Stripe, Jack Daniels, questionable dancing and ripped jeans.
The place went off.

The new songs give a mature sound to the band and were well received by the baying crowd!
We all sang the guitar lines to many of the tunes. Particular highlights coming from those heady Barfly days of ole. You Were Always the One Another Number and Im a Realist getting huge cheers.

This was a greatest hits set. The Brothers Jarman have managed to write plenty of hits through the year that have caused riots on dancefloors across the nation. The sad demise of indie clubs hasnt affected the dancefloor pulling power that Mens Needs has.

Needless to say I put on my T Shirt as soon as I bought it and headed off to listen to more guitar music, drink Red Stripe and kid on I was 20 again.
