There is a certain magic to seeing the Happy Mondays in the best venue in the world. Manchester might claim the title of the best club in the world, b
Read MoreChristmas is coming to Glasgow and at the same time, the extremely cold weather with the city experiencing minus temperatures, however the heat will be on at the Barrowland Ballroom as one of Scotlands most promising artists performs a sold out double header at the iconic venue.
Dylan John Thomas has enjoyed the last few years supporting the likes of Gerry Cinnamon as well as performing another sold out concert at the same venue earlier this year, “no Dylan, no party!†their fans say as it was fair to say that it was deja vu on Tuesday night.
After hearing his music on Spotify I thought to myself, this guy has quite a voice, and I volunteered to cover this one.
After a support performance from Murdo Mitchell, the rising artist takes to the stage with full confidence and a die-hard crowd eager to burst into song and dance, opening with his song ‘Jenna’ and ‘When I Get Home’ the crowd was in for a treat.
Whilst it is clear there are some favourites that the crowd are desperate to hear, Dylan spreads his popular songs throughout the set which meant the best ones didn’t just get kept to the end and he played the crowd keeping them at bay not knowing what song was coming next, but none the less everyone was having the best time bouncing around and singing his songs back to him.

Dylan also includes a couple of cover songs such as ‘Hey good looking’ and ‘Ring of Fire’ putting his own stamp on it, and they go down a storm with the crowd.
During the performance Dylan shouts to the crowd ‘what the f*ck happening with a nervous laugh thanking the crowd for coming along.
Thomas talks about the Barras being something he’s dreamed about from a young age sitting with a sausage roll and fags seeing bright lights which brings him onto the release of his latest single ‘What A Shame’ which again the crowd get behind him.
During the artists performance you’ll hear acoustic versions with little input from the band as Dylan shows on his skills, he’s not only blowing up the stage with his catchy songs and gratifying vocals but wows the crowd with the guitar playing.
Dylan leaves the stage and the crowd start chanting ‘Dylan John Thomas’ wanting an encore. He’s back on stage and his last few words to everyone ‘Barras what a f*cking buzz this has been’ and performs his song ‘Nobody Else’.

Dylan John Thomas is appearing to be the next big thing in Scotland at the top with our Scottish boy Capaldi and is worth going to a gig that’s if you can get a ticket, whilst from an outsider the crowd can appear intimidating a lot is of the younger generation having fun and are there for the artist, I barely saw anyone talking through any of Dylan’s songs which is rare! although perhaps they need to be reminded that everyone should feel safe at a gig and throwing around bottles, cups with drink does not show this.
I can’t fault the show from Dylan it was like a dream seeing a young rising star on stage in front of my eyes.
No Dylan, no party.
