Read MoreOn a Saturday in the East End, GUN fans start lining up to get into the famous Barrowlands Ballroom, getting out of the cold and out of a harsh Glasgow night, YES winter has arrived.
The night warmed up with the support acts Empyre as did Gin Annie who played great sets to get the early goers ready, the main support, Birmingham based act King Herd are a band to keep your eye on.
The crowd were eagerly waiting for the band to come on, and as they
eventually walked out to a rapturous Glasgow welcome, they looked like what every rock band should, and that’s “coolâ€.
Gun started the night off by saying “Bonsoir Barrowlandsâ€, a tongue in cheek joke to Englands defeat by France which saw them eliminated from the World Cup, which happened preciously 30 minutes before the gig began.

Gun are back live, paying tribute to their latest album “The Calton Songsâ€, they started the night off with “Backstreet Brothers“ which was reminiscing of the past life in Glasgow, taking from their 8th studio album, other songs on the set list were “Something to believe inâ€, “Here’s where I am†“Don’t say it’s over†which are fantastic songs.
As we got to the middle of the set list which was “word up Gizzy’s voice was spectacular as he jumped about on stage, the band were tight, and on guitar-
Jools, Gentry, bass, Carr and drums McManus their playing was undoubtedly amazing. The room erupted, clapping, singing with pints in hand.
Other songs featured in the set were those like “Better Days†“Steal your fire†and “Taking on the worldâ€
There was one individual in the crowd who seemed to be so caught up in the music, as if nothing else mattered around him, that is what made this concert truly special and that is what good music should feel like as we get lost in the moment.

The set ended with “Fight for your right to party†the Beastie Boys cover, and that was a sensational way to end a great show, both the audience and the band were on a high at the end of the night, and everyone left the venue buzzing.
This band are truly showmen of rock and put on a great performance, and I cannot wait to see what Gun will be doing in 2023, watch this space.
